In the last decade or so, our
lives have become so mechanical that we hardly have any time for our families.
Also, in the last two years, people are working from home which has led to even
more erratic work hours and schedules. This has led to lesser interaction
between parents and children, between partners and with all other family
members.
Internet is a major distraction
too. There are very few families who have a meal together without looking at
their mobile phones at the table. There is a lot of disconnect within families.
In order to have a good family relationship, it is very important for us to
take the first step.
It is extremely important to be
mindful and be able to detach yourself from the craziness of the outside world.
Once you are mindful, you will be able to help your family be mindful too.
Here are a few tips of how you
can get started and have a mindful family :
·
Begin
with yourself:
Begin your day with gratitude and
do what you like to do the most, without touching your phone for one hour when
you wake up. You can also spare sometime before bedtime or anytime during the
day when you are alone. During that time, only think about yourself, feel your
senses and each breath that you take. Accept your negative thoughts and let them
go without any judgement. This will help
you let go of all negative emotions and feelings.
·
Spend
gadget free time with your family:
Spend some time gadget free time
with your family every day. Whether it is putting your kids to bed, reading
them a bedtime story, sitting and talking to them, playing a board game. Take
out sometime everyday where you just sit and talk to your children. This will
make the children feel loved and they will have a security that you are there
for them.
·
Have one
meal together as a family :
If you want your family to be
mindful, start having one meal together as a family. This will give everyone in
the family to interact and discuss about various things which will eventually
help everyone in the family to let go of their inhibitions and negativities.
These are some simple but very
important tips of how you can be close to your family.
